Fall, Men and A Few Shop Pictures

Happy Friday!!!! I am sharing some pictures of items that are around the shop where I am a vendor. But first just check out my little boys...We went searching for a pumpkin farm a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't open yet but we had to check out the pumpkins still growing on the vine. This is my son, Ben's favorite thing!
I rarely get a smile but here it is....

My little guys are men.  It happened so fast. Can you believe they are twins? I sure love them. It has been such an adjustment for me to mother teenagers. Their needs are so different and mostly I feel like they don't need me at all. We are settling into school and making a life here and all is looking good so far (if our house would just start already)
While we patiently wait for my house to get built - I will show you shop photos. We approved the final drawing of the home and now - permits and architectural committee needs to approve. The process feels slow.

I took my camera in to get looked at yesterday and turns out - it was fine - operator error. On my way home I stopped by The Lazy Daisy to take these pictures.
I have been super busy updating the entry way of the shop. A few years ago I painted a diamond pattern on the floor and I wanted the walls to match.
I hung that nesting cage on the wall too. It looks very Farmhouse-ee!

This desk is painted with Waverly Chalk Paint in Cashew. I love that color but I think it's too yellow for some people.  To me it looks genuinely old.
I haven't touched this piece with paint yet. It's so beautiful in natural wood.

Those wheels would charm up any little piece! Not all of these items belong to me but I thought you might like to see.
This weekend we are taking our boys up to Connecticut. They wanted to go to The Durham Fair. Fair season in New England is so fun and we have missed it for the last several years. I am excited to hit some of our favorite places like Essex, our town beach. We rented a little beach cottage and even Mazi gets to go.
I am nervous that I will be so sad that we don't live there anymore. However, we love where we live in VA - apartment living? Not so much but...

 Just a few more...

I uploaded so many pictures...Well, at least my camera is working. Maybe you see something inspirational too.
I hope you have a fun weekend. I am planning to take some pictures to share with you. Looking forward to some New England Charm!!!

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Hello Friends! Happy long weekend - the last weekend of Summer. It's rainy here and I have allergies so we are taking it super easy. That gives me a chance to update my blog page. I am sharing pictures of the shop where I sell my creations and I am also going to show you a sketch of our new house-to-be-built.
I have recently taken on more space at the shop. I love styling that place! I seriously do not have the energy or work space to keep up on the amount of furniture it takes to fill it but I am floating along.
While I show you these photos I want to tell you about last weekend. It was my 24 year wedding anniversary - for one, very exciting. My husband took my two boys and I up to Chincoteague VA where we saw wild horses! It was so gorgeous! I only have phone pictures but that was an amazing place.
One evening we took a trip up to Ocean City Maryland to see the beach and boardwalk. Guess what I saw there? A REAL shark!
I don't know those guys but my husband and I were barely putting our feet in the water when these fishermen came so close to us and pulled this beautiful creature out of the water. I didn't even scream! I was in aaawh! They let her go back, which I was so glad, but we didn't put our feet even close to the water after that.
My boys missed it, they were riding the rides and we soon joined them. I still love a good laugh on amusement park rides. I felt like I was 12 years old again.

Last weekend was just a last little hurrah before the kids go back to school on Tuesday. The other exciting thing is that we have a drawing of our new house that I can share.
This sketch is a glimpse of our new home. We chose a colonial style. For some reason my honey and I thought it was a good idea to get the kids involved. My "cottage" idea went out the door so fast! One of my boys said - "Why are you going to make us live in a grandma house?"....first world problems....
After a lot of back and forth with pricing and all - this is what we are going with - I am super excited.
Anyway - back to my shop spaces.
A few weeks ago my parents came out to visit. We all stayed in Williamsburg, VA. A beautiful place! Guess what I made my family do? We hit thrift shops and more thrift shops and loaded and unloaded my van. Yes, my poor parents thought they were going to come here and relax. Haha - I was finding cool stuff left and right.
My garage is full of projects to paint and fix but the good news is....I got my camera up and running. I feel better about posting photos I have taken with that than my phone.
I am a little out of practice using my DSLR but you know I have never claimed to be any good at photography anyways. But here are a few more pictures and then you can run off and play.
OK...go have a fun Labor Day weekend and we can catch up again soon! Thanks for stopping by!

Fresh Linen Farmhouse Table

Heeeeey Friends! This is a quick post to show you my latest project. It's a seven foot farmhouse style table.
Lately I have been using the General Finishes brand of paint. OMG! It's amazing! So creamy and smooth. This table is done in the Linen color of their Milk Paint (link). One of the vendors at the shop sells it and I have fallen in love. It's not cheap but the prep work is low and it goes on so smooth.
I almost stained the top of this table in Ebony but at the last minute decided to keep the tones more warm and went with Minwax Dark Walnut instead. I also glazed the Linen paint color area with dark walnut. I have to say, I am trying other aging techniques like clear wax then dark wax or glazing formulas but I always go back to THIS technique.  I stand by my baby oil technique - after ten years! Really! I can go more into that in another post.
I included some wood chairs that came with a different table that I purchased a while ago. I painted them black and distressed them. Since the table is 7 feet long it needs more seating so I found two new linen covered cushion chairs to go on either end. I love the combination of colors and textures.

I wanted to share more photos here today but my camera is on the blink for a bit so here are some photos taken with my phone.
More to come soon! Have a super fun weekend! I get to spend this week with my parents in Williamsburg VA. Yay! Love that place - Love my family!

Until next time,
